Manufacturing & Delivery
Made to order in Solothurn, Switzerland
Every Christopher Butendorff watch is made to order and produced in Solothurn,
Switzerland. From the moment your order is confirmed, production takes approximately
9 to 12 months.
That timeline is deliberate. Each watch is handmade, assembled, and quality-checked
in Switzerland, then finished and individually numbered as part of a limited edition.
Quality control is not a single stage at the end — it runs through every step of
production in Solothurn.
Every watch goes through the following before it leaves:
- Every component is manually inspected before assembly begins.
- Every watch is assembled by hand.
- The hands are kept running on the movement and dial for 24 to 48 hours before
being assembled into the case.
- A full functionality check is carried out, covering timekeeping and any additional
functions.
- The assembled watch is inspected under specialist lighting, checking for scratches,
marks, and surface imperfections.
- Each watch is tested individually to its specification — 5 ATM for The Timeless
(round), 3 ATM for The Modern (square) — using specialist machines.
- After final assembly, a quality control check is carried out on every detail of
the finished watch.
- Each watch is individually packed with a final check of all details before it leaves.
When your watch is ready, it ships with a certificate of authenticity and a 24-month
international warranty covering manufacturing defects.
Returns: Unused watches in original condition and packaging may be returned within
30 days. Contact info@christopherbutendorff.com before returning.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the modular system work?
The watch head, frame, and strap are three separate components. Each connects without
tools — press to attach, press to release. The system is designed so that any strap
in the Christopher Butendorff collection fits any watch head of the corresponding
size: 12 mm straps for 24 mm heads, 20 mm straps for 36 mm and 42 mm heads.
Which strap fits my timepiece?
Compatibility is determined by case size. If your timepiece has a 24 mm case, choose
any 12 mm strap. If your timepiece has a 36 mm or 42 mm case, choose any 20 mm strap.
Round and square frames are not interchangeable — match the frame shape to your watch
head. The Timeless is round; The Modern is square.
What does Swiss Made mean?
Swiss Made is a protected legal designation. For a watch to carry it, the movement
must be of Swiss origin, the movement must be cased in Switzerland, and the
manufacturer must carry out final inspection in Switzerland. Every Christopher
Butendorff timepiece meets these criteria. Each is produced in Solothurn, Switzerland.

Everything you need to know
Christopher Butendorff is designed around freedom of choice. Choose the timepiece that feels like you, then pair it with different straps to suit the moment — from training and travel to meetings and evenings out.
How does the Christopher Butendorff concept work?
Start by choosing your timepiece — the shape, size and finish you prefer. Then select the straps that fit your style and lifestyle. The interchangeable design lets you create different looks around the same watch.
Can I change the strap myself?
Yes. The system is designed to make switching straps quick and intuitive, allowing you to change the character of your watch whenever you want.
Do I need any tools to change the strap?
No specialist watchmaking tools are needed. The interchangeable system is designed for everyday use, so you can move from one look to another with ease.
Can I use several straps with the same watch?
Absolutely. That is the idea. Build a collection of straps and switch between them depending on your outfit, activity or occasion.
Which size should I choose?
As a general guide: 24mm suits smaller wrists and those who prefer a delicate, understated profile. 36mm is a versatile size that works well on most wrists. 42mm suits larger wrists or those who prefer a more prominent dial. The best guide is your own preference — watch sizing is personal.
Can I add more straps later?
Of course. Your watch is designed to evolve with you. Start with the combination you love today and add new straps whenever you want a different expression.
